• Notes

  Catholic family of Pontop. Anthony apparently inherited Pontop from the barrister Anthony Mewburn (1628-1712/13. The birth date (and that for his father John) is purely speculative, and simply is designed to fill the gap back to his grandfather, Thomas. Cannot be certain that the second marriage is for him, but do not belive there is another Anthony in the area at that time.
